Monteverde: cloud forest

Days 7-8: Cross Lake Arenal for a two night stay in the cooler climates of the Monteverde cloud forest, surrounded by over 400 species of birds (including the elusive quetzal). Enjoy a guided tour at Curi-Cancha Reserve Monteverde, Accompanied by an expert naturalist guide, you’ll explore lush forest trails home to over 200 bird species, including the Resplendent Quetzal, toucans, and hummingbirds. You may also spot coatis, monkeys, and armadillos in their natural habitat.

Manuel Antonio's beaches

Days 9-12: Driven south to Manuel Antonio and spend three nights exploring the beautiful beaches and national park, where naturalist guides will introduce the bio-diversity of the tropical rainforest. The wildlife here shows little fear of man, so there are plenty of opportunities to spot sloths, monkeys and birds.

Day 12: Return by road to San José for onward connections.
