Itinerary summary

Buenos Aires

Days 1-2: Arrive in Buenos Aires and stay two nights. You will have a tour of the city's main highlights, including the colourful neighbourhood of La Boca and the famous Recoleta cemetery, burial place of Eva Peron. A visit to an authentic tango show is highly recommended.

Salta and the highlands

Days 3-5: Fly to Salta where you will be met by your driver/guide to begin your private 4x4 tour. Travel north to Pumarmarca, a small town in the Andes for a two night stay. This makes the perfect base to explore the stunning landscapes of Las Senoritas Gorge, the rainbow coloured mountains around Humahuaca and the dazzling salt flats at Salinas Grandes.

Days 6-10: Return to Salta, and after a two night stay to explore the city, continue with your private tour through the Calchaquí Valley to Cachi and on to Cafayate. This is a beautiful part of the country with some stunning scenery and high altitude vineyards.

Enjoy one night in Cachi and a two night stay in Cafayate before transferring directly to Salta airport for your flight to Iguassu.

Iguassu Falls

Days 11-13: Fly to Iguassu Falls for a two night stay at one of the most overwhelming natural sights in the world. The Argentine side has walkways for views from all angles, and you can also visit the Brazilian side of the falls before your onward flight.

Go further - into the Puna

Extend your time in the north-west and travel into the high-altitude desert of the Puna. This is one of the most remote and dramatic regions on earth, with vast landscapes, giant salt flats and deep turquoise lagoons populated by pink flamingos. A journey through the Puna offers a stark, breathtaking contrast to the valleys of Salta and provides a truly adventurous, off-the-beaten-track adventure.
